A variation of the design called the “Danica 16” was built in Vancouver, British Columbia in the 1980s.
This had the same hull shape but with a slightly deeper keel (4”) and a taller cabin with sitting headroom and sleeps 2 comfortably.
A few were designed with built in galleys (a small sink, an icebox, and a place for a stove one side).
Also they have a companionway hatch, taller coamings a smaller cockpit and a lazarette.
Whenever you get involved with the Danica 16, it is always associated with the name of Peter Hahn.
The later Danica 16 have real opening bronze port lights instead of the large rectangular windows the earlier ones have. The reason is quite interesting:
Peter Hahn found a bunch of these portlights at an auction for a good deal so the later boats have the round port lights.
Most Danica 16 are a little different from each other
A few had an outboard well in the lazarette with appropriate cutouts in the rudder and keel.
It appears that about 25 boats were built to this design.
